Just some reference for costume design, based on 1940s women's fashion. Trying to get a feel for silhouettes and how the character will look. Contemplating how the fashion will translate into a more stylized version of itself.
And Bec
And Because Paloma Faith is secretly from the 1940s:
So much fab happening here. I love the fashion design sketches and the cool ways they curled their hair. I think the unraveling of Faith's updo would be a fun thing to animate :)
ReplyDeleteI also really like the feathers. I think bird imagery is pretty powerful and something that my movement instructor and Martha Graham played with a lot. Maybe we could discuss that in the next meeting, comparing ribbons to feathers? Just an idea.
I'm in love with the hairstyles and hats! I think our character would benefit greatly from tightly wound pin curls and one of those itty bitty hats placed precisely and delicately on her head.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love the small waistline of the 40s, I think there's too much emphasis on broad shoulders - which I've always found was a masculine quality. Maybe we should explore options that emphasize her hips - an attribute that's decidedly more feminine.
I love little hats and big hips.
